		<description>You&#039;re right, I was perhaps a bit too sloppy with my language - I didn&#039;t mean to imply that the patterns in these systems form by the same/similar physical mechanisms as those in other systems with different kinds of attractive and repulsive interactions. Just wanted to point to some other cases where competition between attractive and repulsive interactions over different lengthscales gives rise to perhaps qualitatively similar patterns.</description>

I&#039;m not too convinced that the &quot;stripes&quot; are really stripes in that sense - the observed clustering is probably a nonequilibrium effect. The same clustering happens in strongly attracting colloids.</description>
